Founded in 1947, Derecktor Shipyards has since become a worldwide leader for excellence in the construction, repair and refit of yachts, commercial and military vessels. Today, four Derecktor facilities span the East coast of the U.S. from Maine to South Florida, offering vessel owners and operators everything from marina space to megayacht construction.

Mark began his career with Derecktor Shipyards in 1977 as a diesel mechanic and has worked at multiple locations within the company during his tenure. In 1981, Mark assisted in the establishment of a $60 million-dollar shipyard in Rhode Island. During this project, Mark primarily focused on facility design, property acquisition and purchasing equipment.
Once the Rhode Island shipyard came online, Mark shifted his focus to maintaining continuity of operations and contracts as Derecktor worked through personnel transitions during an expansive $400 million-dollar United States Coast Guard Cutter WMEC project. Mark was responsible for all company public affair’s activities with the U.S. Congress, the Department of Defense and other Federal and State agencies.
Mark has also led Derecktor’s international sales programs to construct commercial vessels and patrol boats in Egypt, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and Venezuela. In 1992 he began a 12-year career in the Information Technology industry followed by 8 years in Renewable Energy space.
Mark has since returned to Derecktor to support further expansion and new opportunities, focusing primarily on developing the Port of Fort Pierce into a refit and repair hub for the global megayacht and sailing yacht fleet.
